Structure and Characteristics
- Structure: Composed of a threaded shaft and a circular head. The circular head is used to connect ropes, chains, or other connectors, while the shaft is connected to other components via threads.
- Characteristics: It is easy and quick to use, enabling fast connection and disassembly. It can transmit tension or traction force, and also allows for a certain degree of relative movement or angle change between the connected components.
Classification
- Classification by strength: There are low-strength and high-strength eye bolts. Low-strength ones are usually made of a single piece of bar stock, with the head formed by bending the unthreaded part into a ring, and can only bear axial loads. High-strength ones have a forged head and a shoulder, and can bear off-axis loads.
- Classification by appearance: Mainly divided into ordinary type and shouldered type. The ordinary type has a simple structure and low cost, and is used for vertical hoisting and simple connections. The shouldered type has a protruding shoulder under the circular head, which can increase the contact area with the connected components and bear off-axis loads at a certain angle.
- Classification by application: Including eye bolts for machine lifting, nut eye bolts for light-load tasks such as threading, and screw eye bolts that can be directly installed on wood.
Advantages of Eye Bolts
1. Efficient and flexible connection: The circular head design enables quick connection with components such as ropes, chains, and hooks, without the need for complex assembly. It also allows the connected objects to adjust angles or rotate slightly within a certain range, adapting to force - bearing scenarios that are not completely fixed.
2. Easy installation and disassembly: The rod body is equipped with standard threads and can be directly matched with bases and connectors with internal threads. No special tools are required for installation and disassembly, resulting in a low operation threshold.
3. Wide adaptability to load - bearing scenarios:
- Low - strength models can meet light - load fixing needs (such as line traction and small equipment positioning);
- High - strength forged models (with shoulders) can bear axial and off - axis loads, and are suitable for industrial hoisting (such as hoisting of mechanical equipment and building components) with strong safety and stability.
4. Cost - effective and easy maintenance: It has a simple structure, leading to low manufacturing costs. During daily use, no complex maintenance is needed. Only regular inspection of thread and ring wear is required, resulting in low maintenance costs.
Applications of Eye Bolts
1. Industrial and Manufacturing Sector
- Used for hoisting and moving equipment: High-strength forged eye bolts (often with shoulders) are installed on heavy machinery (e.g., motors, pumps, and machine tool parts) to lift or reposition them during production, installation, or maintenance.
- Applied in assembly lines: They fix or connect fixtures, conveyor chains, and tooling, ensuring stable operation of automated production processes.
2. Construction and Infrastructure Sector
- Used for lifting building components: They are attached to steel beams, concrete precast parts (e.g., wall panels, floor slabs), and steel columns to lift these heavy structures to designated positions during construction.
- Used in temporary safety setups: They secure suspended platforms (e.g., gondolas for exterior wall renovation) and scaffolding, providing stable anchor points for safety ropes.
3. Transportation and Logistics Sector
- Applied in vehicle/ship/aircraft manufacturing: They connect or fix parts (e.g., engine components, cabin interiors) during assembly, and assist in disassembling heavy parts during maintenance.
- Used for cargo securing: Installed on trucks, shipping containers, or warehouses to fasten goods with ropes or straps, preventing shifting during transportation or storage.
4. Light-Duty and Daily/DIY Scenarios
- Used in lightweight fixing: Low-strength eye bolts (e.g., screw eye bolts) are used in woodworking (to hang shelves, lamps) or electrical work (to route wires/cables).
- Applied in outdoor and leisure setups: They secure awnings, tent anchors, or small hanging planters in gardens, yards, or camping sites.
